About Us
We began creating Window Gems accidentally. Eileen had some really amazing static cling vinyl because, well, it was pretty. She cut out a few circles and put them on her glass door to stop birds from hitting it, and that was the extent of it. But then…. Kendra saw them and knew immediately that this was a PRODUCT that we needed to develop so everyone could have Window Gems.
And now, several years later……. We are co-owners, creators and producers of everything here at Window Gems, and so many designs to come.
Kendra is a biologist and the owner of Raven Tree, a wild bird and nature shop in our little town of Mount Shasta, California. She is a wealth of information about birds and their needs as well as bees, bats, and all kinds of other critters. Somehow she magically can be a mom, run her store, tend several beehives, have mad skills as a potter, make a ton of Window Gems AND manage our wholesale accounts. She has a passion for nature conservancy and is thrilled that this little company we started has been able to save thousands of birds every day with our Gems.
Eileen has a background in architecture and design, and spends much thought on creating beautiful things that make people happy. She has always been a bit of a dreamer, or whatever you call someone who finds joy in the simplest of nature’s designs. When she isn’t creating more Window Gems she might be gardening, responding to “Mom!”, sewing, needle felting, teaching a Makerspace class at the local middle school, or obsessively reading way too late into the night. She is pretty sure she has the best job ever.
